Projects you can support

Emmision Avoidance
Forestry & Land use

51% of the Région Sud (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in the South of France), the equivalent of 1.6 million hectares or 3.9 million acres, is covered in forest. As an important carbon sink, this forest land is a valuable asset that is increasingly affected by frequent climatic events, such as droughts and forest fires. In order to increase the surface area of the forest and regenerate any damaged areas, Roland-Garros is supporting 6 emission reduction projects in the Région Sud.

By supporting those projects, you contribute to:

  • Converting more than 15,000 metric tonnes of CO2 per 130 ha (321 acres);
  • Naturally regenerating and planting a wide range of tree species. (Atlas Cedar, more than 6 varieties of conifers and other deciduous species)

These projects are aligned with the carbon policy and climate plan adopted by the Région Sud, which has committed to plant and regenerate 1 million trees by 2021 – corresponding to 450,000 metric tonnes of CO2 absorbed – with the support of the French National Forestry Commission (Office National des Forêts or ONF).
